In recent years, Lewis has also been working to help disadvantaged children at home and around the world. He founded the Youth Life Foundation of the Triangle (youthlifefoundation.org), an award-winning educational and tutorial ministry to impoverished children in the inner city of Durham.
In 2005, he spent six weeks traveling throughout Africa to begin laying the groundwork for a non-profit foundation that will steward and support orphanages throughout that continent. Lewis and his close friend Joshua Chodniewicz have established Chosen.org, a foundation that will provide aid to orphans in destitute circumstances world-wide.
In 2007, Ron helped establish a U.S.-based home in the Raleigh-Durham area for the African Children's Choir (africanchildrenschoir.com). This home serves as a permanent base of operations where the orphans of the choir can live while touring around the USA each year. The ACC is a world-famous traveling ministry comprised entirely of African orphans aged 7-11 who have lost their parents from war, famine, or disease, most notably HIV/AIDS.
