Dear Friends and Family,
On the morning of Thursday, May 24 at 5:30 AM, my mother, Eutha Godfrey,
died peacefully in her sleep and was buried in Greensboro, North Carolina a
few days later. Although we grieve her loss, we celebrate her Homecoming as
we know she longed to be in Heaven.
We were all surprised that her body was hanging on for another day or
two, but the night before she passed away my brother Mark made it in
from Denmark. This gave him some time with her and quite possibly gave her
some time with him. We were with her along with our family pastor, Jack
Kayler, until late in the evening. Also, May 24 is what Methodists call
"Aldersgate Day" which commemorates John Wesley's spiritual awakening. This
was the day when "his heart was strangely warmed and he felt he trusted in
Christ alone for salvation."
This will make our memory of mother even that much more sweet knowing
she too walked with a warm heart towards God and others. As we all
know, my mother was a devout believer in Christ and a dedicated
Methodist.
Our family rejoices that she lived a life pleasing to God, and is now
celebrating in His presence in Heaven. She was truly a righteous
woman, and prayed earnestly for the salvation of her children since we
were young and prayed just as earnestly in subsequent years for the
salvation of her many grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Lynette and I are asking that donations be made in
Eutha's name to Morning Star New York, who will donate all proceeds to Sandy
Flanigan, a woman who is currently undergoing treatment for chronic
lymphocytic leukemia. Eutha was a life-long champion and tireless servant
on behalf of women with cancer.
Sincerely,

Ron Lewis
