June 28, 2007 Edinburgh, Scotland --- On June 28, Pastor Ron Lewis' oldest son Nathan graduated with the degree of Masters of Divinity with Honours from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. The entire Lewis family attended the ceremony at the beautiful McEwan Hall in the heart of Edinburgh. The ceremony followed time-honoured traditions, some of which can be traced back to the founding of the University in 1583.
For instance, as each graduate receives his diploma, the Vice-Chancellor confers the degree by touching the head of the graduate with the graduation "cap." Popular legend has it that the cap was originally made using the cloth from the breeches of John Knox, the famous theologian and reformer from the 1500's. It is often noted that Mary, Queen of Scots, feared John Knox and his preaching more than all the armies of Europe.
Nathan will be following a similar path to his Dad's, as he is the lead Pastor of the Every Nation Church of Edinburgh. The youth of Scotland seldom have a relevant church expression and Nathan is passionate about bringing God's love and truth to a generation without hope.
Surrounding the graduation, the Lewis family spent a week in Edinburgh ministering in youth outreach events and in the church services, while also enjoying fish 'n chips and sticky toffee pudding, staples of the local Scottish fare.
